Love

The prompt for Word Art Wednesday is Love; the scripture is from 1 John 4:7.  John is one of my favourite Apostles.  His message of Love for our fellow man and God’s love for us is so sorely needed in this world today.

Sweet peas are one of favourite flowers they twine their way through their supports and bring much joy in spring and early summer.  This is how love should be sweet and tenacious!  I like to think that God created the sweet pea to show how he loves us!

This card started life as a watercolour.  I then tweaked it in photoshop and added the border using the colours of the sweet peas.  The text is the word art text for this week.  I changed the colours of the text in photoshop to match the sweet peas.

Friendship

The prompt for Word Art Wednesday this week is Proverbs 27:9.  While I was mediating on this I did what I often do to help understanding, I looked up the various translations, and they do differ.  The first part is the same in most translations – the sweetness of perfume and how it gladdens the heart and soul.  The second part varies from the above which is the King James Version to - Perfume and fragrant oils make you feel happier, but trouble shatters your peace of mind. Good News Bible.  My favourite is from God’s Word - Perfume and incense make the heart glad, but the sweetness of a friend is a fragrant forest.

Close friendship is so important to us, I once heard someone say, “Your friends are the family that you would have chosen.”  True friends understand and accept you for what you are. They know you at your worst, they are stay your friend even when you act like a 10 year old, when your house is in a mess, and when you are in a mess.  In a sense they are revealing God’s grace to us, and wherever God is, there is a sweet fragrance. An unconditional friendship is like the unconditional love of our Father, God.  Their love surrounds us, protects us and feeds us. Indeed a fragrant forest!

The oil painting above, I did towards the end of last year, I have been waiting for an opportunity to use it with scripture and I feel that this scripture was made for it.

God's Promise

The scriptural prompt for Word Art Wednesday this week is Isaiah 54:17

When we accept that Jesus died for our sins, we live under the new covenant. We are made right with the Lord, our sins are forgiven and we can enter into a relationship with him.  His laws are written in our hearts, and in our love for him we obey.  It is not through our striving but from him comes the will to obey.

The inheritance which awaits those who serve God is truth and victory.  It is the protection of God in all times of trouble and his friendship in all periods of adversity and victory over our foes.

and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ. Php 3:9

What do you choose

But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:!5

Which God do you serve, the Gods of the world or the God – Jehovah?

We are all given free will; it is our decision to choose our God.  I have chosen to be in Christ, have you?  By my choice I know that I am saved and no longer have to suffer from the pains of the past.  Would you like to be free and turn your life around?  It is really simple all you have to do is acknowledge that Jesus died for our sins. Paul in Romans 10:9 – 10 says it beautifully. That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

It is as simple as that. It is your choice!

(The Lord is my Shepherd is one of my all-time favourites even before I was a Christian.  For ages I wanted to have it on my wall.  I was going through some of my old art and came across this collage which I did while I was at Polytechnic.  So I photographed it and played with the colours in Photoshop and added the text.  Now, I have framed it and it hangs over my bed.)
