WIP and Trees

I have had a very productive week.  Lots of work and happy with it!
Been working on my Portrait and it is coming on I bits and drabs.  I am struggling with the size as it is large, and my shoulders get very tired from lifting my arm up (result of accident).  When I finish, I think it will my last picture that size.  I did a picture of some trees, the size of the canvas was 40cm x 50cm and I was able to work at consistently as I worked with it flat on the table and I didn’t have to lift my arm!

Still lots of work but parts are practically finished see closeup below.

The other picture was some winter trees; I mentioned last week that I love trees and had a painting in my head, well here it is finished and all! For a change I use the acrylic thickly instead of my thin washes in layers.

It is autumn here and the leaves are starting to fall.  However in NZ our native trees are evergreen so there is always some green.  When I was living in Britain I used to love the skyline and the tracery and colours of the winter landscape.  So this is a memory picture of some trees I used to see in winter on a drive to the track where I used to train twice a week at dusk. (Once I was one of those crazy ultra-runners!)

I have also done a lot of journaling but will post on that tomorrow.

So have a happy Paint Party Friday everyone.

(I always feel strange saying that as Friday is almost over for us here, just have to remember that most of you are just starting Friday!)

A Certain Look

This is my warm up for today at Diana Evans 10 Minute Warm Up Linky.

In the weekend I was going to bite the bullet and update my Painter programme, it was from the ark before Corel took over.  When I got to the Corel site, the price made me shudder and I thought I would have to settle for the cheaper Painter Essentials, then, I saw the free trial button, and thought why not, give me time to save up.  So I have the trial version for 30 days, Woo hoo! Today is my first experiment.  I used a charcoal paper Background and grainy pastels, and of course my tablet; don’t know where I would be without it!

She looks a bit grumpy, maybe because it is cold and she had to light the first fire of the season!  Like who wants to go out to the shed in her nighty to get wood?

Have a great day!

Yummy Fruit

I love fruit. Apples, oranges, plums, nectarines, passion fruit, you name it.

I thought I would kill two birds with one stone today.  First paint some fruit from my fruit bowl for Diana Evans 10 Minute Warm Up linky. Second, the prompt at Jen’s Artists Play Room this week is fruit.

Well, the painting actually took 15 minutes, and as usual my hands took me on a colour journey and I forgot I was meant to be paint fruit!  Well there is definitely an apple at the back and an orange at the front, the rest well….

Have a happy APR everybody!
