Caught in the Rain and WIP

Do you ever embrace the rain when out for a walk?  I did on Monday.  I got soaked, but it was wonderful.  The rain was so heavy I could have put my tongue out and had a drink!  When I got home my hair was like rat tails and water was dripping off me and made a great puddle.  But oh I felt so refreshed.  Crazy eh!  I just had to do this watercolour.  (I wish I was as lovely as this beauty when soaking wet, lol!)

The next piece is a WIP, I have had this canvas 30cm x 60cm for ages and had started to do the background in acrylic but had got no further.

On Tuesday I dragged it out and added more layers and used gesso to suggest a figure on the left.  I have been adding to it every day.  But, now I have got to the stage of not knowing where to go next.  Is it finished?  Do I add some text?

I quite like it as it is, it there is still a niggle.  The girl is meant to be holding a flower maybe I could add a flower on the right?  However, I won’t do anything to it for at least a week.  In fact I will turn it to the wall and hopefully next week when I will look at it again the answer will come to me.

I will post the finished piece I promise!

Have  a lovely week and thanks for visiting.

I am linking as usual to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.  Head over there as there are some amazing artists taking part.

  4. Oh, that rain painting is awesome, you can see how rain drops caress her skin! Marvelous work.
Watercolors are demanding, but you know how to deal with them!

It's early morning in Finland and we have such a fog here, I can see the air move in the light of the street lamps, beautiful.

  6. I think a little bit of text or a bird flying across the page...I know, it is sometimes so hard to know when you are done. But you could just be finished...your page is fabulous. (And she is gorgeous).

  7. The picture dieFrau in the rain is wonderful. Nice experience with the raindrops. The picture with the girl I am curious what at the end originates.

  10. You've caught the wetness so well, along with her black and turquoise hair and her yellow wet clothes.
I'll be interested to see what you do with your second painting. I can see a bird on the right with a dark eye and wings outstretched.

  11. Love your new painting...how about tumbling rose petals falling from it on the other side... You always use such beautiful course in your backgrounds and they have a lovely translucent clarity.

  12. Don't turn it to the wall. Catching a glimpse of it everytime you walk past often helps to find out what's missing. At least, with me it works that way. Your first painting is so beautiful. amazing how you managed to capture that feeling of rain. Second one is looking great already, the flower might be a perfect addition .... I see a bird looking straight at her and trying to take the flower she's holding .... :-)

  18. Beautiful artwork, Sharon. I love the rain too. I am sure I wouldn't look that good drenching wet, though.

  20. I LoVe the rain. The sound on the roof. Walking with it during temperate weather. How it tends to hold me indoors, slow me down. It's Good Medicine. :)

And I love your work in progress ~ super background and that figure emerging ~ wonderful!
