Hard Times

This week has been hard as my arthritis has been a hindrance, but I have plodded on.... in the end it has been very productive.
I've managed three paintings, all in oil this week, something I haven't managed for ages. They are very loose in style. (the arthritis in my hands could be seen as a blessing as it stopped me from getting into detail!)

My breakout last week has produced a much freer style. The painting above is me, first thing in the morning! The one below was a quickie as I wanted something calming and suitable for the scripture I rely on when things are tough.
The third painting is in my last post.

Also, I managed to complete some illustration and do my first post on Women of the Bible series – The Serpent Lies. That was in coloured pencil and I enjoyed every moment.

Just shows you can achieve much more than you think with the help of the Lord! Thanks for stopping by, and blessings for the coming week all of you, and have happy creative adventures.

  1. You made THREE paintings in a week? With arthritis as a distraction? Wow that's pretty amazing. Someone else might have thrown down the brushes in frustration. But it's interesting how you've also managed to see it as a positive thing because it liberated your regular painting style to some degree.

  5. I knew immediately that the gal in the top painting was a kin to the woman I met yesterday in that post. Love those blues and greens mixed together. Sorry about the artritis...all the women on my moms side had it (grandmother, mom, her two sisters my aunts) somehow I got skipped, so glad. Glad your spiriual life helps you as it does.
I like this loose style of painting. They are very evocative.

  9. Sorry about your arthritis but the first painting is fabulous! I love the colors. I actually spent a few minutes staring at it because at first it has a bit of a sad feel especially with the words "Hard Times," but as I look at it longer I think the colors and movement in the brush strokes make it feel hopeful and even happy. Wow...I don't usually go so "deep" with my comments...but your painting is lovely.
