Backgrounds

Can you believe it, the first day after 29 Faces and I am doing a face!  Guess I must like doing them.

I have heaps of pages where I just have backgrounds, I make them with leftover paint from my painting sessions.  I was flipping through them wondering what to choose for my entry into the Art Journal Everyday blog hop.  When I came across the one above, there seemed to be textured wings. My though, “Ah, ha angel”, so I ran with it.  Although, I think she might be a mischievous angel, as she looks a bit sneaky!

Also I am posting for Art Journal Every Day the page below.

I had completed it during the week and have been thinking about a quote for it, in the end I decided that it didn’t need a quote.  One of the outcomes of 29 Faces is that I have found a way forward in my art that will tie all my seemingly diverse interests together.  I will post about it next PPF.  Suffice to say, this page gave me the answer.   I love painting people, I love painting the land, we are part of the land, so why not paint both as one.  Hope that makes sense. The page below should give you more clearly an idea of what I mean.

I decided with the following background which was on A3 card to get away from faces for a bit and pay with colour and do an imaginary still life.  After having done the APR challenge of blorange, Tracy Fletcher King's fave colours, I thought what are mine.  Pink and yellow combined, whenever I see those colours combined, my heart sings.  I even have planted a yellow daisy and a deep pink geranium next to each other by the kitchen door, they flower constantly, so my heart sings all year. So here is my yelpink still life, step by step.

Finished for the time being, I need to think whether it needs some darker bits to give it more depth.  I tell you, I am really beginning to love acrylics, I never would have been able to complete this in an afternoon in oils.

Have a lovely PPF everyone and a great week creating beautiful art.
